Xanthosoma Aurea Lime Zinger The Giant Chartreuse Elephant Ear Plant! - Zone 7b - Cold Hardy! These are one of the most eye catching plants that you can have in your garden. Actually goes without saying once you've seen them. How can you miss them? Standing alone, or among any other plants; whether variegated, light green, dark green, pinks, blues, any color flower, palms or whatever...this plant stands out and almost hurts your eyes if the sun is standing in the right position. When these are available, and you are looking for them, it is a good idea to get them while you can. They go fast and are difficult to obtain to due to many crop failures from the plant sources. They will multiply the same as any other Xanthosoma, via spreading roots and the apical root tips. They are fast growing, pushing a leaf a week when cared for properly. Your neighbors may call code enforcement for blinding them as they drive to and from their home! I'm kidding of course. They are just bright! I took the photo below to show them in contrast with other green and white plants. When they grow larger than pictured, they will become even brighter as seen in the photo below the mixed plants. They will do the same as the X. sagittifolium plants do as far as growth care and pattern. Just with extremely blinding yellow-green leaves! Occasionally, there will be a few leaves on certain plants that have a dark green variegation but this is rare as most of that has been genetically removed in the labs. This plant originally came from a sport of the Xanthosoma Mafaffa that stood the cloning efforts and thankfully someone kept note of them enough for all to enjoy in their garden or landscape. Due to the mature size, they would make a great landscape specimen or potted up with several others, will stay smaller. Plants grow 5-7 feet with Huge leaves!..
