Chambeyronia macrocarpa - Red Flamethrower Palm - Cold Hardy 28º F - A very regal palm that can take some cold weather yet it is still not widely used. These palms are fast growing and very easy to care after. Their bright new red leaves last about 10-11 days after emerging and turn into a deep shade of green recurving and drastically arching leaves. Reports of it being an excellent indoor potted plant give hope to those in northern areas where this palm can be enjoyed by all. Even if it didn't have an extremely bright red leaf, the colorful mottled and swollen crownshaft makes it very eye appealing sitting above that heavily ringed trunk. The leaves are dark green and leathery in touch and appearance when mature. No collection should be without this giving its glory.
