Cold Hardy, Yellow Skinned Delicious Edible Fruit on very Tall Banana Trees! Musa "Orinoco" Dessert Banana - Zones 7b and up. Grows Very TALL, Cold Hardy, Wind Resistant! This cold tolerant banana grows to about 18-20 ft tall and produces wonderful yellow skinned angular edible fruit. Should be very ripe when eaten raw or can be harvested early and used for cooking. The leaves grow to almost 2 feet wide and 6+ feet long! They can be used for outdoor cooking like a pit pig slow cook! These plants grow to HUGE sizes when allowed in the warmer climates and are one of the tallest banana species. This species has been grown in Florida since at least the first records in 1610. This great banana giant can be used as a landscape specimen in cooler climates where it can be over wintered with protective mulching. They usually begin to fruit around Mid June - September and are usually ready to harvest around October - January (in warm climates). But In Florida it is not common to see these bananas fruiting in January depending on the weather. They can fruit whenever they feel like it and even in zone 8 climate should fruit after the 2 or third season of quality care. These banana pups available here should fruit next season. These Orinoco Banana plants are all from offset and have not bloomed yet. These are not from tissue culture. Excellent Banana! $24.99 (includes Shipping) Banana tree 2-3 ft tall PUP Shipped bare corm, will grow fast! More Banana Plants Available - Click Here!
