.Musacae - Edible Bananas!
Musa "KRU" Dessert Banana - THE SUNSET BANANA! Zones 9-10. Wind Tolerant! The ‘Kru’ or Sunset banana is a somewhat rare banana in the United States and in the past had been only occasionally found in private collections. The plant is fast growing and of a moderate mature height growing to about 10-12 feet. It is somewhat slender and cold sensitive but well worth it if your area is able to grow these. The pseudostem is very pink and the mature red fruit has angular edges and a slight curvature. The leaves are splotched with red similar to a cavendish variety giving this plant even more color. The taste of the fruit is said to be delicious. Very rare tropical addition to your homescape! An edible sweet fruit producing plant that is enjoyed for its ornamental quality as well. The fruit changes from green to red with deep hues of yellow / orange colors in between giving it it's nickname and place among the favorites with collectors. In recent past (even in 2004) these were going for about $50.00 each, IF you could even find them. Get them now at an affordable price! Excellent Dessert Banana! .
