Colocasia Midnight Black Zone 7-11 - Totally New GIGANTIC Elephant Ear Plant introduction. It's so new to us that we don't have any official photos of its mature size yet. Rest assured, we should soon. Cold Hardy & easy (as all esculenta varieties are) this new introduction is sure to be a favorite. The Jack's Giant Colocasia plant grows to heights of __ ?? No one is sure yet, but 7-9 feet is already recorded as a normal size. The leaves get 4+ feet long and about 3 feet wide. Maybe larger? We will all find out as time goes on. The plants we have are young, but already sport 4-5 inch long leaves . It is known to be from India and Asia. It is not known by us if this is a hybrid species or a selection, all we know is that it grows extremely large that rivals the size Colocasia gigantea. It is a green colocasia and grows monstrous in size! What a cool plant! Jurassic sized leaves would make great dinosaur food if we needed that type of thing. Grown directly in soil will yield the best results for rapid and towering growth. From the photos I have seen, it could be said it is the second largest Colocasia species. As the rest in this family, the Jack's Giant likes moist soil and can live in bog/marsh situations without issues. I think it will grow larger if planted in a well draining, continually moist area of high in organic matter soil. If grown in colder areas than zone 7, they can be dug up for the winter and stored in a dry cool area until the warmth returns. If you don't have room for this one, MAKE room! GIGANTIC COLOCASIA PLANT!
