The largest leafed Colocasia Plant! Colocasia Gigantea "The largest Colocasia in the World! " Cold Hardy to zone 7b! Definitely not a C. esculenta variety. This giant blueish leafed aroid plant rivals the Borneo Giant in size and is just as easy to grow! Even the leaf structure resembles that of the Alocasia species. The plush and quilted leaves become puckered as it grows larger and the shape gets a unique looking rounded appearance. The stems are almost white and have a powdery glaucous blue coating on them up through the veins of the leaves. The blooms are multiples of five or more at a time with white lily type flowers. Almost like a hand in appearance. Folks that have the opportunity to own these know what I'm talking about. Now you can be an owner of this magnificent plant too! These are very easy to grow and require very little attention as does most of the colocasia family. The stem will push the huge leaves into the air and make this dinosaur a giant in your yard! How large they grow is determined by your climate zone and growing season, but they will come back season after season growing larger than before, picking up where they left off. They can be over wintered by protecting the bulbs/root stock to pick up right where they left off the season prior.
