Colocasia "Ele Paio" Variegated (Milky Way) Zone 7-11 Cold Hardy - Grows to 5-6 feet tall with large variegated leaves! Newly introduced to mainstream cultivation a couple years ago is this stunning plant that is extremely easy to grow as are the rest of the colocasia family plants. Originally this plant was only available to Hawaiian Royalty. The best part is that you'll have a variegated version of your much loved colocasia giant elephant ear genus. The plants push out new leaves continually throughout the growing season, each with a new un-uniformed design. The variegations range from splattered (or) speckled with white painted look to a pure white leaf and stem. Most of the stems appear as candy striped vertically white and green. Each new leaf will be different as there is no consistency in the markings. They are extremely fast growing plants that love a rich, moist, compost type soil. For me, a semi-shaded position with bright light is the best area for these as the sun can scorch the white pigment. A very fool proof plant that all will admire! If you're looking to upgrade your garden with something spectacular, I would say this a good choice! Notice the candy striping of the variegated stems on these awesome beauties!
