     Colocasia esculenta Black Ruffles - Cold Hardy - Easy to Care For! An Awesome plant to behold! They are very different than Black Runners or Black Magic Colocasia Plants. It would be as if a hybrid combination between the dark velvet leaves from Colocasia Midnight and the size and leaf shape of the esculenta green ruffles with a deep dark velvety leaf on the upper side and a lighter grey-ish color underside. When the light breezes of summer run through these plants, they will flash their colors for you. These are the same size as the large and grow in the same conditions as the popular Green variety of Colocasia Ruffles to 5-6 feet tall and large wavy, sagittate leaves, but are a rich, deep purple/back instead of green. They grow the same in everyway. Full sun to partial shade, cold hardy and very easy to grow. They love fertilizer and do well in pond or bog situations with a lot of water. Or even once established, can take mild droughts, but if you can, give ' em some water. Enjoy these colorful plants that dramatically contrast your landscape!
