Musa Saba- Zone 8 Cold Hardy, Wind Resistant! Grows to 27 feet Tall! Another colder hardy edible cooking Musa banana plant, this one is from the Philippines. The locals eat this as a staple in their diet. This musa plant grows to 27 feet tall and is extremely wind resistant. The trunks are said to grow in girth to about 18 inches, now that's thick and durable! This is one of the tallest banana plants, there are a small few others that get this tall. This giant banana plant is actually one that could be considered a tree instead of a herbaceous plant being so large and producing much shade with its wide upper leaf span.
