Alocasia
advincula - Batwing, once named the Batman alocasia. This plant needs a little special care in the watering
department & is sensitive to over watering. It is not difficult to grow, just keep it on the dry side, in the correct
soil mix and it will do well.
Cold hardy to at least 32ºF, will die down under temps of 45ºF, yet it will re-emerge when the weather gets warm again so don't
throw the container away. Very sharp shaped leaves really add to the
diversity among the houseplants. |

name? It appears to be slightly different than the ones that have been
around for the last 8 or so years with widened end lobed, more
arrow shaped leaves, sharply sagittate edges and more vivid purple

to grow and care for plant, fast growing, neglect proof and cold hardy

chaii - New
for 2008! This unique tiny alocasia species has a matte blue/grey hue to
the topsides of leaves with a white or light underside. The veins are
pronounced in darker hues contrasting the leaf. With its thick sturdy
leaves & being a small alocasia species, it makes an excellent potted
plant specimen for patio or office space. This one is
new to me so I can only go by what the others say about it for

for 2008! This medium-small aroid is well known for its bold shield
like, metallic, shiny, copper appearance on the upper side of the
leaves and a deep red purple underside. Leaves mature to more green. The midribs are raised as well as
the veins giving a very unique embossed showing. This one is new to me so I
will go by the zone 9 cold hardiness. Likes bright filtered light and
is easy to grow. No garden is complete without this colorful leafed
plant. I'm happy to have them in my eye's view. |

Brancifolia - No official common name, so we coined it The
Crocodilian or Reptilian.
The leaves remind me of alligator claws. It is a fast
grower, cold hardy to 40º degrees before dormancy, temps below 40
causes it to die back for the season, but survives freezes to at least
28º before death. They will come back slowly in spring, keep dry
in winter. Easy to care for, likes filtered light, humidity and
warmth. Keep away from cold if possible for better success. |

think it's appropriate given the shape of the leaves. Often spelled lauterbachianna and Lauterbaachiana. Slender sagittate long

mottled underside and stems. Can take cold weather well and neglect.

Unique small to medium sized green Alocasia. They are extremely
hardy plants that can take neglect. They can take much watering or
short periods of drought. I don't suggest this of course. They are

the stems with darker veins. Easy to care for that adds to the
tropical experience. |
