One of the most beautiful Alocasia Species Found! Alocasia Alba Macrorrhiza 'Variegata' - Zone 7b and higher. Cold Hardy! This variegated species of the Alocasia Macrorrhiza is just miracle of God in my opinion. The colors stay true from offset to offset and so far (although progress is being made), this awesome plant cannot be successfully tissue cultured at this present day. Another great Alocasia with a splash of white and the illustrious "tri-color" variegation. No doubt one of my favorites and many others' as well! These beautiful plants grow to heights about 6-7 feet and leaves 3-4 feet long and 2-3 ft wide in optimal climates and conditions. They add a striking contrast to any setting. The stems are almost prettier than the leaves. Some leaves unfurl as pure white, some will be all green, but most will be somewhere in-between. I have noticed on several plants that a half green, half white leaf split right down the middle is more common than any other leaf that unfurls. They are as amazing to look at from a tiny pup to a huge specimen. Every leaf that unfurls will be a surprise on every plant, so its never a boring plant to own. When grown in best growing conditions, they should produce a new leaf each week to week and a half and offsets can grow even from other pups! They can take the drowning rains of summer with the worst case scenario being a pure white leaf will not last as long, but I have had no problems in the rot department with these plants at all. They actually seem to like it. The summer of 2005 was one of the rainiest that I can remember. EVERYDAY for over 40 days. I was wondering if I should've built an ark? Simply Miraculous!
Treat yourself to a bit of the Tropics!
